Portugal battles uncontrolled wildfires for third day. Over 10,000 hectares of forest, homes and farmlands lie in ashes. Thousands of firefighters tirelessly work to contain blazes across Gondomar, Penamacor, Idanha-a-Nova, Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima, and Arouca.

Massive fires burn vast woodlands. Black smoke shrouds kilometers, flames threatening populated areas. Crop fields, livestock farms, and various homes face destruction. Tuesday proved Portugal’s most challenging day in combating these intense wildfires.
Over 1,000 fire vehicles, plus 15 aircraft and helicopters, aid control efforts. Officials state, “We had and have sufficient preparations. We face a difficult situation. This is everyone’s fight, requiring patience.”
Bulgaria also reels from wildfires. Fire services struggle to control blazes in the Blagoevgrad region. Over 400 Loski village residents moved to safety. Bulgaria, too, lost over 10,000 hectares to flames.
