“At last, not only for Israelis but also Palestinians, the long and painful nightmare is finally over,” he told the chamber during a long address, with some politicians’ breaking out into chants of “Trump, Trump, Trump”.

World leaders gathered Monday in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh for the Gaza Peace Summit. Leaders from United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey signed the accord, pledging to end violence and promote dialogue as the only path toward lasting peace. The agreement also emphasizes protection of basic human rights for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Calling it “an extraordinary day for the Middle East,” U.S. President Donald Trump hailed the signing as the end of the Gaza war through mutual prisoner exchanges between Israel and Hamas. “Today marks a historic moment in the region’s history,” he said. “Together we will support the people of Gaza. But we do not want the return of bloodshed, hatred, or terrorism.”

Global organizations and world leaders praised Trump’s mediation as a commendable effort. The U.S. announced a $1.6 billion aid package for Palestinians to help stabilize and rebuild Gaza. “This an important day,” Trump noted. “Much remains ahead, but we are moving in the right direction.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his country stands ready to monitor the ceasefire and prevent arms shipments to Hamas. Following the signing, Trump addressed the Israeli Knesset, holding discussions with over 20 leaders on the next phase of the Gaza peace plan. “The nightmare for Israel and Palestine has come to an end,” he declared.

Analysts believe Israel may still maintain limited military presence in Gaza for security reasons. However, under the agreement, Israel will withdraw troops once Hamas disarms.
