In a desperate bid for safety, approximately 100000 civilians have fled the Thai border region. Meanwhile Cambodia actively evacuates residents from its border villages.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appealed for both sides to exercise patience. China also expressed deep concern over the ongoing crisis.

Early Friday local time, renewed clashes and gunfire erupted along the Thailand-Cambodia border, resulting in more casualties. A senior official in Cambodia’s Oddar Meanchey province confirmed residents from border villages are now safely evacuated.

Military sources indicate the conflict damaged civilian infrastructure in four of Thailand’s northeastern provinces. Thailand also moves its residents from border villages to safer locations.

Amid escalating tensions UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged maximum restraint from both nations. A UN Assistant Spokesperson advised seeking peaceful solutions through dialogue emphasizing a good neighborly approach.

China too voiced its concern regarding the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict. On Thursday, Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to UN, stated both countries must show restraint and return to a path of peaceful resolution.
