Despite an apology from the BBC, the Trump administration said the lawsuit would not be withdrawn. The dispute stems from allegations that the BBC edited and distorted Trump’s recent speeches in its coverage, prompting what officials describe as “serious damage” to the president’s reputation.

“The BBC, funded by British taxpayers, has been spreading completely false and misleading reports,” said White House spokesperson Carolyn Levich during a press briefing. “Even if they apologize, the president intends to move forward with the lawsuit. He remains deeply concerned about the continuous false campaigns targeting him.”

Levich added that the BBC’s actions reflect “a pattern of political bias,” calling the network’s editorial stance “unacceptable for a publicly funded organization.”

Questions have also arisen about how Trump’s move could affect his relationship with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Addressing those concerns, Levich stated, “President Trump maintains a very good relationship with Prime Minister Starmer. Differences of opinion on media neutrality do not alter that fact.”
