Immigrant communities across the country now live in fear as Trump announces one tough measure after another following a recent shooting targeting National Guard members in Washington, D.C.

Since beginning his second term, Trump has pushed forward a wave of anti-immigration actions. He has deployed National Guard units in several cities, tightened security along border areas, and intensified enforcement operations. The attack on National Guard members in Washington has given Trump new grounds to push even harder on immigration policy.

Trump now set to approve an unprecedented decision — a permanent halt on immigration from all developing nations. In a post on Truth Social, he said he plans to cut federal benefits and subsidies for noncitizen immigrants. He added that citizenship will be revoked for individuals who disrupt law and order. Foreign nationals considered a threat to U.S. security or cultural stability would also face deportation.

Trump did not specify which developing nations will face entry bans. International reports list Pakistan, India, Myanmar, Iraq, and Nepal among countries commonly grouped under the developing category.

Earlier, the U.S. ordered a re-verification of documents for green card holders from 19 nations, including Afghanistan. Political asylum applications from Afghan nationals were also suspended.

A previous Trump directive had already barred entry to citizens from Afghanistan and 11 other countries, with partial restrictions on seven more.
